The Problem
For many years
QAL has had problems with emissions from conveyor transfer points.
The fineness and abrasiveness of the dust evolved provides a
problem for conventional bagfilters. Ducting tends to
block or wear out quickly. Filter bags abrade or bleed
dust. The result is shown in the Before shots above.
This creates not only a mess but a workplace safety issue.
The Solution
By installing our new
and innovative Horizontal Bagfilters on the transfer points which have successfully
eliminated the fugitive emissions (see above photos). This
style of filter does not need any ducting as it contains and
deposits the collected dust at the emission source. No
more patching ducts or replacing dust handling devices!
Additionally, these units offer lower air to cloth ratios (i.e.
they contain more filtration area) and lower can velocities than
conventional units.
At the heart of these units are
the revolutionary BHA PulsePleats® with
BHA-Tex® technology.
This style of filter element offers the finest possible
filtration and the lowest operating pressure drops of any filter
on the market.
The Outcome
QAL were so happy with
the project execution, results and technology that they wrote an
article for their internal magazine "Refining Moments"
(view article) that was
distributed throughout the works. QAL plans to install
many more of these innovative bagfilters in the near future.
