What happened to Baltec?
Late in 2003 Baltec Systems Pty
Ltd was placed in receivership by the National Australia Bank. At the
time Baltec had racked up a debt approaching one million
dollars. PriceWaterhouse Coopers was appointed as the
administrator with the aim of recovering as much money as
possible to pay debters (including the employee entitlements).
PWC sold the remaining assets and intellectual property rights
of Baltec Systems Pty Ltd to a new entity which was set up
called Baltec Global Pty Ltd. Baltec Global continued to
trade and completed some of the remaining projects which Baltec
Systems had underway at the time of the receivers being
appointed.
Alistair
Henderson, the former owner and managing director of Baltec
Systems, was not part of Baltec Global Pty Ltd but continued to
work with them as a consultant. All of the employees of
Baltec Systems lost their job except for William Neil who
continued to work for Baltec Global.
In February 2004, BHA Group
Inc. bought Baltec Global Pty Ltd and hence all of the assets
and intellectual property of Baltec Systems. We offered
William a job (which would have necessitated a move to
Wollongong) but he decided to stay in Brisbane and took a job
outside the air pollution control industry.
The remainder of Baltec Systems has now been
amalgamated into TAPC (as the Australian representative for BHA).
Most employee entitlements were
paid out by PWC.
Please
note that "Baltec East Asia Pty Ltd", "Baltec Pacific Pty Ltd"
and "Baltec Australia" are not associated with Baltec Systems
Pty Ltd and none have been given the rights from BHA to sell
Baltec Systems Pty Ltd equipment in Australasia. |
