The support insulator is found at the top of the electrostatic precipitator and is generally housed within a heated compartment.  In a Flakt style system there are four support insulators per electrical field.

The most common support insulators in use in Australasia are either the 370mm high conical support insulator (P/N 03105-00101-01) or the 370mm high cylindrical support insulator (P/N 03105-00501-01).
