In most cases, Flakt style electrodes consist of a spiral "spring"
with either reinforced
hooks or
buttons on either end.
Materials vary for the electrode but generally these are either 904L
or 316L stainless steel. In some later installations a
ribbon-style or rigid-style electrode may have been employed but
these are less common.

|
The most common style of Flakt electrode is the hooked spring. It consists of a spiral wound spring with reinforced ends.

|
This is a less common style of Flakt spring electrode. It
also consists of a spiral wound spring but has tapered button ends as per the
picture opposite.

Rigid Discharge Electrodes
Spring style wire discharge electrode systems can offer very reliable service for many years, but wires eventually fail. Broken wires mean shorted fields
and reduced ESP performance. Additionally, rigid electrodes offer a large performance increase over smooth wires. RDEs may be the answer you are looking for for increased reliability and collection
efficiency.
