Proven Applications

Cement and Rock Dust

Inlet abrasion is a common mode of failure of filter bags in these applications. Installation of shorter filter elements removes the filter from the "abrasion zone." Though shorter in length, PulsePleat elements actually increase the available filtration area on a hole for hole basis. Successful usage in applications include:

  • Crushing/Grinding
  • Coal Mill
  • Raw Mill/Finish Mill
  • Clay Grinding
  • Packing Machines Bentonite Crushing
  • Kaolin Processing
  • Silo Bin Vents
  • Material Loading - [Case History Available]
  • Material Handling/Transport

Metals

The small particle size of metallurgical fume cannot be easily discharged from a traditional bag surface into the hopper in "on-line" pulse-jet style dust collectors. PulsePleat filter elements have been used successfully in a staggered configuration to help reduce upward velocities (known as "can" and "interstitial" velocities) and decrease air-to-cloth ratios. Successful applications include:

  • Electric Arc Furnace - [Case History Available]
  • BOF Furnace
  • Desulphurization Furnace
  • Caster
  • Induction Furnaces Mold Cooling Lines
  • Shot Blast/Grinding
  • Ladle Melt Furnace
  • Sand Shakeout/Sand Reclaim

Aluminum

Increased ventilation of potrooms, more efficient hydrogen fluoride scrubbing, and particulate capture are just a few of the benefits of using PulsePleat filter elements in the primary aluminum industry. Ideal applications include:

  • Fluid Bed Dry Scrubbers
  • Venturi Injection Dry Scrubbers
  • Carbon Bake Dry Scrubbers
  • Alumina Handling/Unloading - [Case History Available]
  • Green Mill Carbon Handling
  • Anode Crushing Ventilation
  • Reacted/Unreacted Ore Silos
  • Prebake

Chemical

Reduction in compressed air usage (less cleaning frequency at reduced pressures) is significant, especially in multiple baghouse configurations common in the chemical industry. Reduced downtime due to decreased installation time also contributes to overall production time. Applications include:

  • Fertilizer Spray Dryers
  • Plastic Fibers
  • Calcium Hypochlorite
  • Cellulose Fibers - [Case History Available]
  • Polyethylene Resins
  • Polystyrene Fluff Coke - Briquetting Process
  • Packaging
  • Tire/Specialty Rubbers
  • PVC
  • Catalyst Manufacturing

Food / Pharmaceutical

Improved dustcake release is frequently needed for protection from infestation problems and to provide for improved airflow. All synthetic filter elements are constructed from FDA compliant components. Applications include:

  • Food Additive Processing
  • Cereal Drying
  • Protein Spray Drying
  • Grain Flour Milling - [Case History Available]
  • Animal Vitamins
  • Pharmaceutical Pill Coating

Paint / Pigments

Increased filtration area can help increase air volume and boost production of high value products. Applications include:

  • Toner Mixing/Blending - [Case History Available]
  • Packaging
  • Pneumatic Conveying
  • Paint Mixing Pigment Blending
  • Spray Dryers
  • Micronizers
